Angela Hsu is a dedicated piano teacher based in Christchurch, New Zealand. She began her career as a first-generation student teacher at Dorayme Studio 17 years ago. After a period away, she returned to teaching with a renewed commitment to nurturing a love for music in her students, which she has continued to do so for the past three years. Angela was trained in Finger Gym Piano Method Series specifically focused on the musical education of young children. She believes that teaching music to young children is about more than simply imparting technical skills; it’s about nurturing a lifelong love for the art form and fostering creativity, confidence, and curiosity.
A key part of Angela’s philosophy is creating a supportive and encouraging environment where children feel free to express themselves. Young children thrive in environments that are rich in rhythm, melody, and movement, as these elements help them naturally internalise musical concepts. Hence the incorporate of activities in her lessons that include singing, rhythmic games, and creative movement, allowing children to experience music physically and emotionally. Additionally, she believes in teaching foundational musical skills through stories, games, and hands-on activities. These techniques not only engage young minds but also help build basic skills like rhythm, pitch recognition, and coordination in a fun, memorable way. Developing these skills in a playful manner supports children’s overall growth while laying the groundwork for future musical study.
As a mother of two, Angela brings warmth, patience, and a sense of fun to her lessons, making learning both enjoyable and inspiring. She creates a positive atmosphere where students can explore their musical potential and grow their skills confidently. She looks forward to engage with her students as they embark together on the gratifying music learning journey.
