Kia Ora, my name is Rebecca Leung.
I am originally from Hong Kong and a holder of the DipABRSM in Piano Teaching, I began learning piano at the age of three and have nurtured a lifelong passion for music ever since. My journey as a piano educator began as a freelance private teacher alongside a full-time career in the marketplace.
In 2015, I relocated to New Zealand with my husband and our first child. After welcoming my younger son in 2016, I resumed teaching piano and have since continued to share my love for music with students of all ages and backgrounds.
I am currently teaching piano as an itinerant piano tutor at two local schools in Christchurch, as well as teaching at my home-studio. My students range from young beginners as young as four to adult learners, each with unique goals and learning styles.
With over a decade of teaching experience, I tailor each lesson to the individual student, designing personalized lesson plans that reflect their pace, interests, and musical journey. I strongly believe in fostering a love for music while building a solid technical and expressive foundation.
My teaching philosophy centres on nurturing musical growth in a positive and encouraging environment, where students feel motivated and supported. I aim not only to teach piano skills but also to inspire a lifelong appreciation for music and empower students to use music as a form of self-expression.
